In 1968 husband and wife team of Kevin & Pat Smith bought a small brand new Datsun two tonne van, formed KG & PD Smith Removals and began contract work for Blue Circle Taxi Trucks.

Today, the business is still family owned – but now Kevin’s son Mick and wife Gayle run a fleet of seven vehicles from warehouse and storage facilities in Seaford Road, Seaford. They pride themselves in offering the same level of service that allowed Kevin and Pat to build a solid reputation. Many of their customers are long standing and are still using their services 30 years o­n....

From their home office in Carrum, Kevin and Pat carried out household relocations and small commercial moves in and around Melbourne. As their clientele grew, Paul Teague joined the firm in 1976 and they added a second truck to their fleet.

In the early 1980s, as the demand for storage increased, a 250 square metre warehouse in Seaford was purchased. This paved the way for storage and distribution and allowed the business to become a bigger player in the moving and storage scene.

To reflect the new business, the company underwent a slight name change to KG & PD Smith Storage & Removals.

Over the years, Kev established a solid reputation as a good operator resulting in regular work in the Toorak, South Yarra, Armadale and other exclusive areas of Melbourne. Because of Kev’s reputation for quality and service, the company began to undertake regular commercial work with their first major customer being Framac Office Furniture.

Carrying o­n the family tradition, Kevin and Pat’s son Mick joined the team in 1984 and when Kev retired in 2002, Mick took over the management of the company.

In early 2003, the company underwent another slight name change to become Smith Moving & Storage to reflect the move into a new high tech of recording inventories by way of digital imaging.
Mick's youngest son Kelly has joined the team in 2004 making this a genuine 3 generation family business. 

Smith Moving and Storage is firmly established as a quality supplier of removal and storage services for both domestic and commercial markets.
